Why I built Acre.
Short version: the spreadsheets stopped working, and nothing built for general HR fit a seasonal, visa-based workforce.
Every generic HR tool assumes a workforce that doesn't arrive on a visa, live in your housing, and leave at the end of a season.
I built Acre to run a real seasonal labour operation across BC and Alberta: tracking crews under SAWP and TFWP, coordinating housing across multiple sites, and trying to keep compliance paperwork from eating an entire week every month.
Nothing I looked at was built for this. General HR platforms assume a permanent, single-site workforce with no visas involved. Spreadsheets worked fine right up until we had more than a handful of sites and a few hundred workers moving between them. After that, I couldn't tell you with any confidence who was where, whose permit was about to expire, or whether this week's hours were even close to what we'd forecast.
So I built something to answer those questions directly, using data we were already collecting anyway.
That's the part that matters most to me: contracts, housing, hours, medical incidents, onboarding, flights, all of it reflects how a seasonal operation is actually run day to day, not a generic HR template with agriculture bolted on afterward.
It's still early days. Acre runs today the way I built it, for one operation, by someone who's actually run one. I think that's worth knowing before you look at it, which is part of why I'd rather walk you through a demo than hand you a signup form.
Data residency
Hosted in Canada
Acre runs on AWS's Canada (Central) region. For records tied to SAWP and TFWP compliance, I don't think where that data physically sits should be an afterthought, so I made a point of keeping it here.

Actively developed, in production use
I use Acre daily to run a real operation, and I'm still building it out. New operators start with a guided walkthrough of their own data rather than a self-serve trial. Reach out and I'll show you exactly what that looks like.
Curious if it fits your operation?
Tell us about your season and we'll show you Acre against it.
